Buying Auction Property to Rent

Attending property auctions with the intent of buying auction property to rent is a common way to have a almost guaranteed income and investment. In certain parts of the UK, decent rental property is hard to locate. Renters are willing to pay good money to find a decent place in an area they desire. People have many reasons for not wanting to buy, they may be relocating soon, can’t afford a mortgage, or they simply don’t want the hassles that home ownership entails.

Auction property that can be rented in a good investment, especially if it is located in an area where rentals are difficult to find. Finding property auctions in these prime areas is also difficult. Look for multi-unit rental properties near companies that have large numbers of professional workers who routinely move to other locations every five years or so. These people are often looking for prime apartments and are willing to pay good money for a nice place.

Also look for property auctions near where foreign workers are hired. These workers may be only in the UK for 2-3 years, so they don’t buy a home, they rent. You could have a steady stream of workers coming and going for years.

Avoid rental properties in bad neighborhoods, unless you believe the neighborhood is changing. You will get less per month, and your tenants will only be the ones looking for the cheapest rents. Of course, there are exceptions, but use caution. The more familiar you are with the area that the auction property is located in, the better.
