According to the Small Business Administration, roughly 600,000 new businesses start each year in the United States. If you have a unique idea, invention, service, or can provide a niche product, you may have a good chance of success in starting your own business. Starting a new business takes much preparation and hard work. The reward comes in seeing the results of all your hard work in starting a successful new business.

Evaluate Your Reasons
You may love the idea of having your own business and especially the idea of being your own boss. Before you commit to borrowing or spending money on this new business venture, you need to evaluate your reasons for wanting to start a new business. What unique product or service do you have to offer? Evaluate the financial aspects of starting your new business and examine your goals. Is your goal to have a second income or to be independently wealthy? You will also need to consider if you have the time to dedicate to starting a business and the dedication to see your plan through to the end.

Research Your Industry
Before launching your new business, you will need to spend much time researching your competitors, your target audience, financing options, and the current economic environment. Without this research, you will be ill prepared to begin a new business venture.

Writing a Business Plan
After making the decision to start a new business, writing a business plan is an essential first step. Without an effective business plan, no loan officers or investors will take you seriously. The business plan is a written document that addresses these key elements: mission statement, uniqueness of product or services offered, target market, financial plan and an executive summary. How to prepare for starting a business to succeed

The passion for starting a new business is not everything, one must prepare and do well.

In the Business Week website give us some basic tips to prepare to start our new business idea which I will review and comment:

1. Start saving money today. Every business idea needs money and the first months of initiation of a new business idea not usually make money, hopefully you can have a positive flow at 6 to 8 months (obviously this varies according to each project.)

We must have saved that money going to help us to live up to our idea of a productive business. Start saving today to just have that cushion of support in the early months of the launch of your business idea.

2. Make a business plan. It is very important to the business plan to assess your business idea but also to show it to others who might criticize him. Never stop doing this simple plan it but make one.

3. Fix the price of their products or services.
This is a key issue, when you start your own business customers generally want to take advantage of this situation and aim to pay amounts far below those that might pay a large firm. To avoid working for nothing you must know what is going to be the minimum price they would accept to work with that client without implying that you will lose money.
